Dear Friends,

We are officially proposing to hold the WILPF Congress 2007 in Costa Rica.

We have the prevous experiences of holding the two IEC meetings 1990 and 1999. IEC-1999 was held in the Europa Radisson Hotel. It has all the facilities and we had a good meeting. So we are suggesting to hold it in the place.

Hotel Radisson-Europa Hotel:

Price per person: Breakfast, Lunch (including appetizer, main dish, dessert and natural fruit juice) and two coffee breaks with pastries. Double rooms with private bathroom; cable t.v., telephone, security box, swimming pool and use of spa. $61.10 per person in double room.

This includes the use of the Conference Room and separate room for workshops.

Of course these prices are for 2005 and 2006, but we don't know what it will be for 2007. As the dollar rises daily here in Costa Rica, the hotel management thinks that the price will hold-

This hotel has all the facilities, computer, office, copy machine, etc. We have to bring our own computer for our office. In the last IEC held at the same hotel in Costa Rica, we brought our computer to the office we had in the hotel. The participants used the computer the hotel provided.

Why Costa Rica?

1. Costa Rica is the only country in Central American that has not signed CAFTA and even though for 2007 Costa Rica might have signed. It happened after much criticism and struggle which will be important for the opinion of the people presenting other options. Besides in 2004, Costa Rica held the Americas CAFTA Workshop.

2. There is a strong movement here of many NGOs that formed a network to follow up the Millenium Agreements, and its principal theme is Poverty. We actively participage in this Network and we discovered the Government's proposals, for instance. To reduce the national debt which will be achieved by reducing social services, by savings in health and education. This network goes to Parliament and to the Communities to speak on these issues.

3. Another reason is that it is much cooler here in July and August than farther North. Even though will be in the middle of the "green season" the rains are contained in the afternoon when we'll be in sessions and it will clear again at night to go to the mountains to La Puerta de Alcal where Margaret Turner and Natalia have very good memories.

July 27th, we are having a Board Meeting and we are sure all will have ideas for important issues.

Bolivia

Dear Sisters:

We are officially proposing to hold the WILPF Congress 2007 in Bolivia.

We have the previous experiences of holding the two IEC meetings 1986 in the Cortez Hotel, now we have better and cheaper hotels suchas  Camino Real . It has all the facilities and we would have a good meeting. So we are suggesting to hold it there .... here are some estimates---at Hotel Camino Real Hotel:

Price per person: Breakfast, Lunch (including appetizer, main dish, dessert and natural fruit juice) and two coffee breaks with pastries.

Double rooms with private bathroom; cable t.v., telephone, security box, swimming pool and use of spa. $70 per person in double room.

This includes the use of the Conference Room and separate room for workshops.

This hotel has all the facilities, computer, office, copy machine, etc.

Why hold the Congress in Bolivia?

1.First and the most important thing is we are confronting a difficult economic situation in Bolivia, most people are  emigrating from Bolivia, because they cannot find jobs.

2. In order to support Bolivia the fight to reduce the national debt which will be achieved by reducing social services, by savings in health and education. .

3. Another reason is that it is much cooler here in July and August than further North.
